This entry replaced the one in [personal profile] kostinaya's journal.*

Please let me know if there are any issues of spam, harassment, or general asshattery going on at [community profile] bakerstreet.

Provide evidence if you're speaking against another player. This is not a venue for anonymous bashing just for the fun of it. Such comments will be deleted.

Anon is on, IP logging is off, and comments can be screened at request.

*Mainly because kostinaya is not an active mod anymore and I felt it's better to have a post that I could edit if necessary.

again, to be frank here, I think people are already fully aware that you can blend the memes. I have seen on more than one occasion, people using the smutty picture prompt meme and putting up a top level with a couple of suggestions along with saying they were open to prompts. like any meme, people can put up their own starters if they want. most just don't want to. and the ones that do, do. there really honestly doesn't need to be a reverse smut meme other than it's a smut meme and people can't let things go.

I personally would be comfortable with an addendum at the bottom of the normal smutty picture prompt meme that says that people can also top level with their own prompts, but it's not something that generally needs to be said, because as I mentioned, the people that want to, do it. the fact that the reverse meme gets so little play in comparison to the regular meme should speak for itself. I mean, in the end, it's just a week where people don't get to play in the meme they want, but it still seems incredibly unfair when it doesn't actually break any rules and this feels, to me, like it's falling into nitpicking rule-making. I respect that you and the mods of this comm are trying to cater to a wide variety of needs/wants, but potentially cutting off one of the actually popular memes (popular enough that it was one of the reasons there was a schedule implemented in the first place) because a second meme made back when it was a fad has lingered and is shambling along like a few of the older and less popular memes feels like the exact opposite of appeasing the community.

Which is just my opinion and I know there's other sides to it and you and the other mods will do what you see fit. but I felt like adding my 2c. It'd be one thing if they were competing popular memes, but they're not. when you also take into consideration how many texting memes there are a week, this particular decision seems incredibly unbalanced. and I say that as someone that actually likes the texting memes and picture prompt memes of all flavors. 2-3 picture prompt memes a week vs 3-4 text memes a week (depending on tfln overflow)... they're popular for a reason. if they peter off, let them peter off. people can and do scroll past what they don't want to play.
