i'm going to voice my disappointment in that. if anyone coming to a comm that's been frequented by posters for years has a problem with the way it's been running for ages, then too bad for them. seriously. if they don't want to see an image on a meme, they can singularly block that image, dw hosted or not. there is literally no reason why any meme poster should use a 'specific' img hosting site when that's never been a problem before. it's this anon's problem. if they can't figure out how to block a singular image, then maybe they need to learn that instead of expecting an entire comm to bow to their needs.

it's one thing to ask for nsfw images to be behind a cut. that's totally reasonable. it's another thing to ask that images/gifs be hosted on a specific site that maybe someone doesn't want to use for whatever reason. the site we're playing on has adapted to let us host our own images here. there's no reason we shouldn't use that. as a meme poster, i'm actually pretty unimpressed that i'd have to change the way i do things when there's no actual problem that a single person can't fix on their end since they're the one that wants it changed. not cool.

Here's the thing - the links will be provided, yes. But that doesn't mean the poster has to use them.

Some people may choose to do so, some people may not. All I can do is ask.

da here but please don't do this :( some countries block frequently used third party image hosting sites, it's guaranteed we actually get to see some images when they're hosting on dreamwidth. no one's ever asked for people to stop using things like imgur...

The other mods had also discussed this between us - and the situation right now is this:

Mods will make arrangements for images that are overly wide (as per the rules), or contain sensitive/triggering imagery. So contact us directly for any of those issues.

Blocking image-wise you can change your account settings so all images show up as a placeholder icon that you can click to load, as long as you're on your reading page. Icons remain unaffected, and you can set filters to view different subsets of journals and communities, so you can tailor that to your preferences.

I'm sorry this request was left by the wayside. Honestly I just wasn't sure if you were triggered by the prompts or if it was an issue of the meme taking too much of the page. I'd rather not contact meme posters if I don't know why I'm doing so.

My intention was not to dismiss your request. For the future, I'll just ask you and other anons to be more specific. The reason why you want something done is not always as obvious to us as it might seem.

understood. considering the mods put up a request that long prompts be put up under a cut, i assumed it would be obvious why. you guys asked for something and a few posters haven't been doing it. and yes, it's because of prompts being long and taking up too much space.
