the idea of being allowed to "own" memes is real iffy, especially when there isn't anything indicating the "owner" has exclusive meme posting rights besides their own word, and if that really how we wanna do it for tfln or any particular meme i'd way rather that be mod-posted

I don't care what time TFLN is going to be posted but if it's something that's been relegated to one person maybe that should be noted on the stickied scheduled post, so that no one posts in a meme that's going to be deleted later.

As far as I knew that poster only had the right to post tfln that one week. If that's going to continue it needs to be made clear to everyone.

I gave posting right to shocksock that one week, because TFLN had been posted early on several weeks prior to that. One week is not favouritism. It they got the impression they have a sole right to post from thereafter, that's another matter.

Rocket science is easier.

People should give and take, and not compete against each other with posting times or being among the first to toplevel in a meme. But I guess that's daydreaming.

shocksock got it because a rude af jackass purposely started posting tfln on thursdays and friday at midnight. tfln before then had been posted on friday morning/afternoons for years

maybe don't piss off the community and use wankgate to do it, and you won't have people volunteering to helm memes that were getting along just fine without assholes like sockies shitting in the pool

i don't know why you're so obsessed with this sockies person, but other people fucking around with the schedule doesn't mean one person should get control of a meme just because. there's some flaws in your logic around there.

so, with that said, who do i talk to about being the only person allowed to post the gen texting meme? do i need to make a sock and post it early a couple times first to get people riled up?

since we're on the topic of claimed memes and adhering to times and fluctuating them, would you mind adding the smutty picture prompt to that as well? it's a sunday meme that gets posted where it's midnight in one part of the world and not all of them. that means that for a good chunk of people, it's a saturday night meme and has been since that poster started taking over. and since they post it so early, there's no way for anyone else to change times on posting it.

i'd be fine with them continuing to be the one to post it if they were just willing to switch up the times it got posted. do it later some days. earlier others. but since they've started jumping the gun on it, it's been a saturday meme for me for quite a while now and that's just as unfair as tfln being posted super early.

The only reason it matters what time TFLN is posted is because it's the only meme that hits captcha, though.

and yet if it hits captcha within 24 hours, it gets an overflow post. word association meme can also hit captcha, but it does it after a few days and doesn't get a post. it's also only a monthly meme, not weekly.

point is, it's still supposed to be a 'sunday' meme, it's not posted on sunday for everyone, and someone has co-opted it and despite it not hitting captcha it is one of the few popular memes (hence why it's scheduled). i'd just like to see a little evenness across the board if there's going to be more implementation of rules about schedules and meme fairness.

to add to this, tfln gets an unfair amount of coddling for its posters in comparison to people who like other memes. it's the only meme that gets an overflow post, and it's the only one that people are this contentious over. if it's this big of a deal for people, i honestly think it should have its own comm by now and just have one posted to it sometime on friday night that's crossposted to bs. i don't play in tfln. i don't really care about it, but i do care about the other memes i play in, which you don't seem to. that's fine, but in terms of the mods of the comm they're hosted on, i'd like to see more fairness.

are you guys actually going to do something about all the sentinel/guide powered/source type repeats? if you don't, nobody is going to follow this rule. when those meme posters are putting up their memes regardless of dwrper response to them, they aren't going to listen to you asking them to stop. please start actually enforcing this.
